The GritTimer Start Tree features very bright (so bright that this picture had to be taken at a severe angle) wide viewing angle (100° horizontal, 50° vertical) Light Emitting Diodes. Each Lane is controlled separately. When the Control Panel operator (typically the Race Director) presses and holds the red Race Enable button, the speakers say "Ready" (in GritTimer Pro only), the top Red LEDs are illuminated and the individual Racer Controllers are enabled. Three seconds later the top Yellow LED is illuminated, followed in 1/2 second by the middle Yellow LED, followed in 1/2 second by the bottom Yellow LED and 1/2 second later the Green LED. The Racers may be powered at any time once the Controllers are enabled. However, crossing the Start Line at any time before the Green LEDs come on will disconnect the power to the Racer and extinguish the LEDs for the offending lane. In GritTimer Pro, the two Start Trees operate identically so that one can be used for the Racer drivers and the other pointed at the crowd. With GritTimer Pro, the Start Tree is as shown. With GritTimer Starter and Standard, there is no pole, the box is mounted to your surface by hook and loop fasteners, and there is only one tree whose lights are not quite as bright.
