The GritTimer Sensors, used with small differences on all models, include status monitoring. When connected correctly the LED glows dimly. When correctly mounted and 'seeing' the Emitter, the LED glows brightly. Mounting is accomplished with simple hook and loop fasteners. The actual sensor input is on the back thus facilitating mounting and alignment. All cable wiring is color coded and noted on each label. A Black Sensor wire indicates that the Sensor is used in Lane 1, a Silver wire in Lane 2. This wire coloring is consistent throughout. All Sensors are identical withing models, their line and lane function are controlled entirely by the connected wire. GritTimer Pro is guaranteed to a minimum 25 feet of range, GritTimer Stock and Standard are guaranteed to a minimum of three feet of range.
GritTimer Emitter

The GritTimer Emitter also includes status monitoring. The center red lenses are the actual infrared emitter beams. When wired correctly the upper LED glows dimly on GritTimer Pro. On GritTimer Stock and Standard, the middle LED will glow dimly, there is no upper LED. As in the Sensor, mounting is with simple hook and loop fasteners. One Emitter serves both Sensors since it has IR emitters on both front and back. All Emitters use White wires. This wire coloring is consistent throughout. All Emitters are identical within models, their line function is controlled entirely by the connected wire. GritTimer Pro has a much higher level output beam to help achieve longer range.
The Emitter and its related Sensors should be mounted at the finish line outside the lane with the 'beam' passing through a 1/4" hole in the side rail. All holes should be the same distance above the track, typically 1.5" for most power tools, and perpendicular to the direction of racer travel. Mounting outside the track with hook and loop fasteners keeps the electronics out of harm's way both during racing and during storage.
