Sensor/Emitter pairs shipped with GritTimer normally have a guaranteed minimum range of four feet. In most power tool racing and racing of other relatively small vehicles this is more than adequate. However, racing Soap Box Derby cars or ATVs for example a four foot lane width is wholly inadequate. For those applications we offer our Extended Range Sensor/Emitter system. These use similar but somewhat enhanced circuitry to achieve a minimum range of 20 feet. Power Tool Drag Racing or other events where the race vehicles use AC mains power can operate in one of two ways. In the simple method a master power switch is operated by one person and GritTimer gives the results that are dependent only on the vehicle. On the other hand, true drag racing involves the driver and their reaction time. GritTimer's AC Power Control puts the control of each race vehicle in the hands of its driver. GritTimer's RaceManager software provides single or double elimination races in both Modified and Stock divisions simultaneously with from 4 to 196 racers per division. GritTimer Sensor or Emitter cables are available in lengths of 100 feet or 15 feet in each of the three colors. Generally, 100 foot cables are used for the finish line and 15 foot cables are used for both the starting line and the hand held racer controllers. Other lengths are available on a custom quote basis. These cords use a heavier gauge wire than is commonly available.

While GritTimer is normally powered by the adapter shown above, it can be powered optionally from an automotive DC power jack using the main cable shown on the left and as many extension cables, shown on the right, as needed. Each cable will stretch to about 10 feet.

GritMicro can provide run time for one lane if both sensors are used in the same lane. But it does not normally provide run time for two lanes, just lane time difference. The Remote Start Gate Option has been designed for those who need two lane run time. With this option an extra pair of terminals is provided on the GritTimer console. These terminals can be wired using customer supplied wire (one pair # 26 or heavier gauge) to a customer supplied normally open switch that closes when the starting gate opens. maximum wire length 1000'. Viewing of run time and differential time continues to require a computer with USB and a terminal program running. The display includes the elapsed time of each lane and the calculated difference. A terminal program and instructions are provided on a CD with GritMicro.
