GritTimer Basic is similar to the other GritTimer systems but has been optimized for low cost consistent with the features most small clubs need.

1. Three foot sensor range. Reducing the sensor range reduces the need for high current emitters and ultra-sensitive sensors.
   
2. Just one starting line. While different divisions may sometimes run different distances, small clubs can easily move the sensor/emitters from one start position to the other as necessary.
3. One start tree, all that's needed for one start.
   
4. No Winner announcements. Speech and the circuits and amplifiers and power required for it are a costly addition that can be eliminated for a smaller club.
